Best.Interfacing.Ever SALE!

Have you ever tried interfacing from Fashion Sewing Supply? If you are still using that papery stuff (you know, that name that rhymes with felon), do yourself a favor. Buy the good stuff. You are worth it, and your garments deserve the best.

From now until December 3rd the uh-mazing professional interfacing is 15% off. The sale applies to all colors and styles in stock, up to a maximum of 5 yards per product. Don’t delay too long, as some products sell out during the sale period. I use the Shirt Crisp in all the shirts I make for the men in my life, and I use Light Shirt Crisp in my shirts. I love the Pro-Tricot Deluxe Fusible for knits, and I also use it for lightweight wovens.

Have you tried any of the interfacing products from Fashion Sewing Supply?? Which one is your fav go-to interfacing product?

ASG Yard Sale fun and profitable

Last Saturday (when I should have been home sewing!), I was at a “fabric and trims” yard sale sponsored by my local American Sewing Guild (ASG) chapter. This is the event where all our members donate the fabric that we can no longer stuff into our storage systems don’t have a use for, and then other members of our same chapter eagerly buy it. Sort of like our own mini-economy, right?

I swore I was not going to buy anything except double-fold bias tape to make the sundresses for a favorite charity of mine, Dress a Girl Around the World. Fail. I did manage to resist purchasing any new patterns or books, though, and I would classify my fabric haul as extremely modest.

Look at some of these vintage packages of trims! I love the rick rack marked “tango” – a nod to the Pantone spring color “tangerine”, eh? Have you ever heard or seen “Penimaid” trims? And what can you buy at the fabric store today for 25 cents???

I bought quite a few pieces that I plan to use in my Kids Sewing Camps this summer. Flannel for doll quilt “batting”, pleather for totes for older girls, and cotton print for who knows what.

OK. I admit it. This was just for me. But a BIG piece of Emma One Sock black knit for 2 stinkin’ dollars, people? Come on! You know you would have snatched it up too! This will become a swingy sweater coat for fall.

EOS Black knit

A couple of things that might become something for my DGD. The sherpa could become a soft cuddly toy or trim for a jacket. And her momma loves stripes. I know. Maybe these stripes are too wide for a baby, but still.

And the pièce de résistance—a kimono sleeve. This  will be incorporated into a jacket or vest as an accent piece. LOVE the ikat design and colorway. LOVE.

For all of you fellow sewists who made it to the sale, it was fun to see you. For those of you who missed it, you only have to wait another 3 or 4 years before we do it again. 😉

SALE Alert – Christine Jonson

Many of you know how much I like Christine Jonson’s patterns. I really like most of her designs, as well as the shaping that she builds into her patterns. I am not a big fan of the boxy T styling—that look doesn’t do a thing for my body type. I honestly think using Christine’s patterns helped me get off to a successful start working with knits.

So you are in for a extra special treat today. Now thru June 15th, all patterns and fabrics (she has great quality fabrics too!) are on sale for a whopping 25% off.  Just use the coupon code dress, and receive 25% off. Get on over there—hurry people—this is a great deal!

SALE ALERT: Fabulous interfacing

Have you ever tried interfacing from Fashion Sewing Supply, owned by Pam Erny? Do yourself a favor and order yourself some great interfacing. Forget that cr%#y paper stuff (sold in Joann’s) that masquerades as interfacing. Buy actual fabric interfacing from Pam. You won’t regret it.

I double-heart the woven Shirt Crisp for my husband’s shirt collars and cuffs, and I also use the Pro-Tricot for all my knits. I think I will try out the new Pro-Woven Light Crisp interfacing as a general purpose fusible for medium weight cottons.Hmmm, maybe I need some more Pro-Sheer Elegance too, since I think there may be some lightweight woven cotton in my sewing future.

How about you, dear readers? Have you ever tried Pam’s interfacing? Do share your thoughts!

March Madness Pattern Super Sale

If you have been pining for a few patterns from the McCall pattern company (Vogue, McCall, Butterick), they are having a SUPER SALE online. Only $1.88 for Butterick and McCall, and $3.88 for Vogue (plus shipping).  It usually takes about a week for my order to arrive, so you won’t be able to sew with them today, but maybe by the weekend?

Joann’s had a Vogue pattern sale last week for 3.99, so I already grabbed a couple I thought were interesting in the new spring collection. I might work on fitting these AK pants when I am at my spring ASG retreat the end of this month. And I LOVE the blouse for spring. That is, if we ever have a spring here in the frigid PNW.

Of course I had to my vintage pattern obsession with these two:

I should never buy another pattern, but somehow I can’t stop myself. What are you in the mood for making for spring? Let me know what you are planning (or at least dreaming of making) for your wardrobe!

Black Friday

Wow, there is nothing but retail craziness this year. I used to participate a little bit when my kids were younger, and what was under the Christmas tree was REALLY important. But gradually as they grew older we all wanted to opt out of the buying frenzy, and focus more on spending time together, playing card games, cooking, eating, and just hanging out. This year I am going to try to make all or most of my gifts. Of course, that will likely involve some fabric purchases, but I am not really planning anything too extensive. (Umm, actually I have been a little light in the planning department, period, but I am just about to kick that into high gear. 😉 )

What about you? Are you participating in holiday gift-giving this year? Do you plan (or hope!) to make any of your gifts? I’d love to hear your comments!
